Ma critique du livre The Song of Achilles publiée sur GoodReads il y a quelques mois. Je la republie ici pour catalogage et me faciliter la vie. Vu que j’ai lu le livre en anglais, la revue est en anglais.

A story of rare sensitivity. The Song of Achilles is a retelling of the Trojan War. Told in the first person by Patroclus, it breathes personality and vitality to all.

Madeline Miller’s choice of centering her story around the exalted love between Patroclus and Achilles was inspired. It contrasts sharply with the savagery of the tale and era - especially towards the fairer sex.

A solid knowledge of the classic only reinforces the tour de force - it is very accurate to the original text. Everything fit. Homer could (almost) have done no better.

A book which rekindled my love of quality reading.
